Lately we bumped into a nice feature on the New York Times website. At the ‘Screentest’ page, actors are doing screentests while being interview by Lynn Hirshberg. Sometimes it’s so easy to get inspired.. watch some more little talks after the jump
For the upcoming Banksy documentary we blogged about earlier, Banksy created London’s newest, darkest en grimiest cinema called Lambeth Palace. It’s situated under underground station Waterloo and includes Surround Sound and is filled with Banksy’s art. The cinema will be showing Exit Through the Giftshop until the 4th of March.
Movie director and genius Spike Jonze shares his vision on an interesting world. An Absolut World. The short film ‘I’m Here’ is a wonderfully whimsical tale about two robots living in LA. I’m Here is currently touring at Independent Filmfestivals across the globe. If you schedule doesn’t allow you to travel, then wait a few weeks as it will be released globally in March, when it will air on cable TV, online and be sold on DVD.
Last week we went to the premiere screening of Tom Fords ‘a single man‘ at the International Film Festival Rotterdam. His debut film, based on a novel by Christopher Isherwood, is an aesthetic culmination of brilliant shots and spotless styling. The setdressers improved Mad Men’s entourage and although the gay vibe is not to be missed, this film is definitely a straight friendly one too.
Last week the documentary “No Distance Left To Run” about Britpop legends Blur saw the light of day in selected cinemas. The documentary shows the rise and demise of one of the most important musical outfits the world of rock ‘n’ roll has yet to see in its lifespan. It turned out to be a lovestory between the strong friendship between Albarn and Coxon. Definitely check it out!
Looks like one of the most infamous street artists, Banksy is branching out into movies. His self proclaimed street art disaster movie‘Exit Through the giftshop’ will premiere during Sundance this year. Check out the trailer below.

The full program will be online at the 21st of January. Be sure to sort out your wish list and tickets on time, as most of the films sell out quickly.
We will drop our cinematic tips for IFFR 2010 on this blog soon….
“I Say Fever” – the first video from the Ramona Falls debut album Intuit. Directed by the ridiculously talented Stefan Nadelman, winner of a 2003 Sundance prize for his 22 minute film ‘Terminal Bar’, a prolific animator in the commericial field and the mastermind behind the Menomena Evil Bee video.
(thanks to Karel & Sjaak for this one)
The second one is from Bent Image Lab for They Might Be Giants’ ‘I’m Impressed’ Bent Image Lab created not only this fantastic video but has done a lot more interesting stuff. Check their site for a impression.
We think these two video’s a great and a big inspiration for those (mostly) boring musicvideo’s which come out lately..
