Razzle Dazzle

August 25th, 2010 | Filed under: Design

Typographer Marian Bantjes was asked by Wallpaper magazine to design a series of graphics to be printed on a Laser sailboat. Inspired by World War II ‘razzle dazzle camouflage’, which was used on British gunships , she came up with this unorthodox design. For the small sum of  £10,000 it can be yours!

All We Ever Wanted

August 10th, 2010 | Filed under: Film

2010. The sky is the limit. Everyone can be a star and everyone can be beautiful and popular. So why aren’t you? Your dreams and your possibilities are big and wild and endless. Where do you begin? In an environment of more is better, ‘enough’ is like the horizon – always receding.

ALL WE EVER WANTED is a film about young, creative, ambitious people living the big-city-life. They seem to have it all with their great looks, fashionable outfits and lifting careers. In this highly visual time-document we discover what doesn’t fit in this picture perfect; the price they pay to be in that spot.

For summer 2010, one of my favorite mag’s Monocle, has a new addition to its editorial calendar. The Monocle Mediterraneo newspaper features a mix of essays, reportage, interviews and fashion. The specially curated summer newspaper will be accompanied by the Summer Series, a weekly audio show that will be broadcast on Monocle.com with live music and debate on Fridays at 12.00 CET.

Sounds and looks like must have material to read and listen to on your holiday destination of choice…

Life in a day

July 25th, 2010 | Filed under: Art, Film

Every day, 6.7 billion people view the world through their own unique lens. Imagine if there was a way to collect all of these perspectives, to aggregate and mold them into the cohesive story of a single day on earth. Yesterday you had 24 hours to capture a snapshot of your life on camera and be part of the cinematic experiment “Life in a Day”. Kevin Macdonald, the Oscar-winning director, will edit the most compelling footage into a feature documentary film, produced by reknowned director Ridley Scott.

Philips launched a new campaign called Parallel Lines. They teamed up with five film directors from Ridley Scott Associates to shoot five cutting edge short films. One piece of dialogue, but five different films. This strengthens their tagline which says; there are many ways to tell a story, but there is only one way to watch it.

Couple of weeks ago we already posted his stop motion movie My Desk is 8-Bit. This guy makes more work in this style.

He made a graphic series about nowadays products with a 70’s style. So what if the iPod was designed in the 70’s? It could look like this.

Check out more work on http://www.alexvaranese.com/

Touch Design

June 23rd, 2010 | Filed under: Design

Nowadays it’s all about touch interfaces on mobile phones. But this movie shows other forms of communication through textures which can shift in their shapes. This will bring new opportunities for interacting with each other. Ask your self: How would happy or angry ‘feel’?
